Day 1 – Arrive – Yangon
You will be met at the airport by our English-speaking guide, and transferred to your hotel, located in the heart of downtown Yangon. After freshening up, head to Monsoon restaurant, a short walk away and a great place for your first taste of Myanmar food. In the afternoon, our guide will take you on a walking tour of downtown, exploring some of the many British colonial buildings here. From the old Rowe & Co department store, to the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company’s old offices, the history of these buildings is fascinating. Overnight – Strand Hotel
Day 2 – Yangon
This morning, head to the train station and board the circle line train. A local commuter train, this is a great way to view Yangon. Disembark the train at Insein, and walk through the famous local markets here, watching the sellers flog their fresh produce. For lunch, you will go on a food tour through these markets, sampling the local food, and finding out about its history and the traditions behind it. Return to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon. As evening approaches, make your way to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, the most important religious site in Myanmar. For dinner, we have booked you in at Le Planteur, simply the best food in Yangon. Overnight – Strand Hotel
Day 3 – Yangon – Depart
This morning, head to the Bogyoke Aung San Market, consisting of 3,000 stalls, this is the best location to purchase some gifts and handicrafts to remember Myanmar by. In the afternoon, enjoy the extremely tasty Afternoon Tea at Strand Hotel. Following this, checkout of your hotel and make your way to the international airport for your flight home.
